At Ziptrek, we love protecting the planet, day and night.💫Mont Tremblant National Park is a Dark Sky Preserve, which means it keeps artificial light to aminimum to help wildlife, save energy, and give visitors stunning, star-filled nights. In August, that means the perfect stage for one of nature’s greatest shows, the Perseids meteor shower.🌟Perseids Meteor Shower – A Celestial Summer TreatWhat are the Perseids? The Perseids are bright, fast-moving meteors caused by tiny debris from comet109P/Swift-Tuttle burning up in Earth’s atmosphere. It is nature’s annual fireworks show.☄️When to watch? The shower runs from mid-July through late August, peaking overnight between August 12thand 13th. This is when you will catch the most meteors streaking across the sky.🌎Meteor rates and appearance:At peak, you can spot 60 to 100 meteors per hour.✨Why Mont Tremblant National Park is perfect for stargazing:As a Dark Sky Preserve, the park enforces strict outdoor lighting restrictions to protect naturaldarkness. This keeps skies clear of light pollution, letting the stars shine their brightest whilesafeguarding nocturnal wildlife.🌙Light pollution and sustainability:Artificial light at night can disorient animals, disrupt migration patterns, and waste energy. Bypreserving dark skies, Mont Tremblant National Park supports healthy ecosystems and givesvisitors the rare chance to experience the night as nature intended.#eco #darkskies #perseides #monttremblant #tremblant #ziptrektremblant
Did you know that wildfires are natural events, whose frequency is amplified by climate change?🌩️Some types of plants actually depend on fires to survive. This is especially true for certain species of pine, whose cones burst open from the heat, allowing seeds to spread in the surrounding area. These fire-adapted plants are known as pyrophytes.🫐In 1903, a massive wildfire ravaged the Laurentians, from the village of Labelle all the way to Ste-Agathe.🔥Unfortunately, with climate change, we are at risk of experiencing more large-scale wildfires: the soil is drier, storms are more intense, and rainfall is less frequent. That’s why it is very important to follow the fire regulations currently in effect in the region.⛺️🎆
